Optometrist, BSC Pharmacology

Dr. Tanner Udenberg

After practicing Optometry in Vernon for 12 yrs, I am opening my own practice - Kalamalka Eye Care. My twin brother, sister and I were raised in Coldstream where I attended Kidston Elementary & Kalamalka Secondary Schools. After completing my Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology with honours at the University of Alberta, I attended the University of Waterloo for Optometry School where gained a keen interest in ocular pathology and speciality contact lens fittings. I am a proud member the Kalamalka Rotary Club, Vernon Chamber of Commerce and support the community with local volunteering efforts. When I am not at work I enjoy afternoons at Kal Beach or Silver Star with my wife and two children

Kalamalka High School Alumni

Dr. Udenberg is a Kalamalka High School alumni. He played on the basketball, volleyball and track teams and has very fond memories of his time at Kal. Dr. Udenberg sees many teachers from Kidston and Kalamalka School as patients and always enjoys connecting with them.

Kalamalka Lake - An Optical Phenomenon

Kalamalka Lake is a rare combination of glacier fed water in a semi-arid climate; a Marl lake. The phytoplankton multiply in the summer causing a change in pH of the water. This change in pH and a rise in temperature in the summer causes the calcium carbonate (limestone) to crystalize. These "marl" crystals refract and diffract the light to create a seasonal colour change.... hence the name "lake of many colours". Truly one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
